FRESH THAI FLAVORS IN SPOTLIGHT

Saan has been treating Auckland locals to authentic Northern Thai cuisine in the heart of Ponsonby Road for years. But now they’re shaking up their menu, with seven delicious new dishes joining the line- up. The new players, created by head chef Chutima Polvit (known as Say), offer a slightly different look at Thai cuisine than you might see at your local take- out shop. Roasted eggplant chilli and mushroom dip with crispy tofu curd and fresh cucumber finds a spot in the Small Plate section, while the roast duck breast on a vegetable curry with bamboo heart, roasted eggplant and acacia leaf; and deep-fried whole fish wraps with fresh ginger, lemongrass, lime, cashew nuts and perilla are both stand- out larger dishes. Not forgetting dessert, the sweet section welcomes a classic with a twist – Thai fried banana with salted coconut cream, palm caramel and young coconut. Everyone is sure to find something new to love.
