ONLY THE FINEST WINES FOR MUM

-

With Mother’s Day around the corner, we asked Beth Bicknell, Mofo wine buyer, to give us her top buys to spoil Mum with this year. “Mums come all sorts of shapes and sizes, so there’s a wine out there for all of them. When it comes to spoiling, these three wines are sure to impress,” says Bicknell.

Mt Difficulty Ghost Town Syrah

An elegant take on a powerful grape, delicious to drink now, but can be kept for while.

3Sixty2 Sauvignon Blanc

World- class ‘savvy’ from Waihopai Valley ... enough said.

Château La Clapiére Cru Classé Rosé

Pretty and delicious, you’ll start the night with this rosé and keep drinking it as food hits the table and conversation flows.

KIWI WINE ON THE WORLD STAGE

Villa Maria has been named in the top three Most Admired Wine Brands in the World by Drinks International. This is also the first time that a New Zealand wine brand has been in the top three, making Villa Maria the most admired New Zealand wine brand in the world.

At this year’s Royal Easter Show Wine Awards, the estate also took home three trophies and 12 gold medals across a spectrum of varietals – coming away with an impressive 20 per cent of the total gold medal count.

“These are wonderful achievements, especially for our Cellar Selection Pinot Gris which punches well above its weight and is loved by many New Zealanders,” says Sir George Fistonich, Villa Maria founder and president. “I’m delighted to see it receive the recognition it deserves. It is a great credit to our winemaking and viticulture teams.”
