EIGHT IS ENOUGH
As well as being an awesome city for wining (and dining), Portland has so much more to offer.
Portland Farmers Market – This weekly market has been held for 18 years in the pretty grounds of Portland State University downtown. Go with an appetite and enjoy chatting to the stallholders and stocking up on their fresh breads, cheeses, fruits, meats, pastries, seafood and flowers.
Powell’s City of Books – A must for bibliophiles, Powell’s is the biggest independent bookstore in the world, taking up a whole city block.
Forktown Food Tours – Perfect for foodies, these famed three-hour walking tours include everything from fine dining to food carts to gourmet delicacies and are a great way to get to know the city.
“A place to let go of worldly thoughts and see oneself as a small but integral part of the universe”, the serene Portland Japanese Garden was designed by world-renowned architect Kengo Kuma and is considered the most authentic Japanese garden outside Japan.
Pittock Mansion – Built by city father Henry Pittock in 1914, this stately home transports visitors to Portland of old and tells the story of the city’s beginnings as a pioneer town.
Portland Art Museum – A short stroll from the Farmers Market, this venerable museum is the oldest on the west coast and among its collection, boasts some cool Native American art.
International Rose Test Gardens – Portland is the City of Roses and the 10,000+ rose bushes in these aromatic public gardens are popular year-round.
Multnomah Falls – Just 30 minutes’ drive from the city, you are in rural Oregon and can enjoy the spectacle of the falls, the tallest in the state.
