Whether grilled, used as a salad or made into a smoothie, dragon fruit always makes for a versatile, tasty treat.

Sweet, crunchy and eye-catchingly colourful, dragon fruit is an unusual fruit with a delightful taste. Also known as pitaya or strawberry pear, the tropical fruit originates in Latin America and South-East Asia. The colourful delicacy is grown in four varieties, three with vibrant pink outer skin and the fourth with yellow. Similar to a melon in its texture, dragon fruit has a pleasantly sweet flavour, often used in smoothies and juices, fruit salads and desserts. Grilled on skewers is another delicious way to enjoy the fruit, pairing perfectly with pineapple when prepared this way. Despite its sharp appearance, dragon fruit is easy to cut and prepare. Like an avocado, simply slice down the middle, scoop out the flesh and cut how you please.
