THE SPIRIT OF GOODWILL
A group of caring locals want to empower Marlborough’s young people and help them thrive with the assistance of the ‘best wine charity in New Zealand’.
Since 1995, the Graeme Dingle Foundation has been a positive force in child and youth development around New Zealand. Now the foundation is involved with a new group of community-minded organisations and individuals who have teamed up to make ‘the best wine charity in New Zealand’. Aimed at empowering Marlborough’s young people to overcome life’s obstacles, this not-for-profit, Marlborough-based social enterprise is called Borough. Borough wines retail at under $18, with about $10 per bottle going directly to the foundation. “Creating a sustainable income stream is a potential game changer for our charity – and doing it with the help of our local wine community – well, that’s just magic!” says Bronwyn Laird, communications manager for the foundation. A sauvignon blanc, pinot gris and a pinot rosé have all been released under the Borough label. boroughwine.co.nz
