LETTER OF THE MONTH
I love MiNDFOOD for its contents and it encouraged me to ask my daughter, Candice to write her story on her years as a drug addict (‘My Story’, May).
I mainly wanted her to get across to others, like herself, the process and the Treatment Intervention program she entered into with the law courts and magistrate. Without that program and the magistrate, I would hate to say where we would be today.
The program has only a 50 per cent completion rate as it is hard work, but I watched Candice improving every day during this course. She was determined.
It was a tough time for my husband and I and my daughter. But I had no other choice ... I wanted her off the drugs.
Now, as I look back on it all, I am glad I did what it took. It was painful and frightening but Candice got there.
She is now living independently with her eight-year-old son and her dog, Dex. She works and is enjoying bonding again with her son.
I am so proud of her. At last, I have my daughter back.
