FEED THE HUNGRY

Following a grass roots campaign by anti-poverty and anti-waste campaigners, France became the first country in the world to ban supermarkets from throwing away or destroying unsold food. Instead, they were required to deliver the food to charity or food banks. In the past, supermarkets would also deliberately spoil unsold food to prevent people scavenging it from bins, a practice that is now also forbidden.
