LET’S TALK ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTABLES

Discover XEOMIN®, an effective and purified* botulinum toxin.

-

With skin losing volume and elasticity as we age, coupled with (one would hope!) many years of laughter and expressiveness, we can begin to form movable, dynamic lines on our face that eventually settle into static lines that remain in place. Seeking out anti-wrinkle treatments to refresh your look and relax these facial lines is more popular than ever, and now readily discussed between friends.

Less commonly talked about though, are that there are a number of different options currently available, and issues such as the potential risk of developing resistance to treatment over time possibly resulting in less satisfactory results.

Did you know muscle-relaxing injections made of botulinum toxin have varying levels of protein content? What’s more, emerging therapeutic research suggests that over repeated treatments, the total dose level and protein amount injected may influence how effective each result is, and how long it will last over time. Increasing therapeutic evidence and published clinical research shows it’s possible to build up a resistance to botulinum toxins as a result of increasing doses with treatment of multiple areas over time and the presence of unnecessary proteins. That’s because in some cases, these unnecessary proteins can stimulate an immune response where you develop antibodies that prevent the treatment working as intended, meaning they become less effective over time. It may explain why you might not be seeing the long-lasting results you used to see, or you are needing higher doses of botulinum toxin to keep wrinkles at bay.

In a growing market, it’s more important than ever to seek out a reputable provider and understand how the treatment you’re having will fit with your intention and lifestyle.

WHAT IS XEOMIN®?

XEOMIN® is a purified* botulinum toxin, developed by Merz Aesthetics. It’s free from unnecessary proteins that may contribute to treatment resistance in some patients over time. It undergoes additional purification* steps during production to remove the complexing protein which means the end product contains only the active part of the botulinum toxin. When injected, XEOMIN® acts on the nerve endings in facial muscles and prevents them from contracting. The reduction in muscle activity temporarily softens the lines in the face, like crow’s feet, forehead creases and frown lines, with the intention of giving you a natural, well-rested appearance.

THE TREATMENT

During the treatment, as administered only by an aesthetic medicine doctor or registered nurse, purified* botulinum toxin XEOMIN® is injected in minimal amounts directly to the target muscle where it reduces muscle activity. It’s a relatively quick process, with the whole procedure taking approximately 20 minutes. With no downtime, you can easily get back to the office immediately after a lunchtime treatment.

The effects of purified* botulinum toxin XEOMIN® therapy are rapid and should generally be noticeable within 2-3 days following treatment, with maximum effect visible after around one month. Retreatment will be required around four months after the initial treatment, with the effects gradually wearing off during this time. However, the duration of effect will vary between individuals, so ask your doctor when retreatment is recommended for you.

EFFECTIVE RESULTS

XEOMIN® is an effective, widely used anti-wrinkle option globally, with results proven in numerous clinical studies. In frown line treatment studies, XEOMIN® anti-wrinkle injections improved the appearance of frown-lines in over 95% of patients within 1 month of treatment and desirable effects were maintained for up to 4 months. Additional clinical trials have shown that XEOMIN® is also highly effective for the treatment of horizontal frown lines and crow’s feet with results maintained for up to 4 months.

* Xeomin contains zero complexing proteins.
