LIP HOORAY

-

Ethique has led the way on solid beauty bars, turning liquid shampoos, body wash and more into concentrated cubes to significantly minimise plastic and water waste. Now it’s turning to a more traditionally tubed item – lip balm – though fittingly, it’s offering its version in a 100 per cent plastic-free, plant wax-lined home-compostable push tube.

“Discarded plastic lip balm tubes are a common find on beaches around the world,’’ explains Ethique founder Brianne West. “We buy almost 200 million every year and unfortunately, while some of them may be recyclable, statistically the vast majority will not be. This means almost every lip balm tube ever made will still be on the planet somewhere. I’ve wanted to come up with an alternative for a long time, but finding quality cardboard tubes with the right lining has been difficult. I am so delighted that we are finally releasing these after over two years of R&D.”

Made of natural plant oils and butters, there are five options, including one tinted version and one plain unscented version.
