Benade says although inquiry learning isn’t new, it has evolved. “Perhaps in the past, the teacher might have said, ‘Okay, we’re going to learn about dinosaurs.’ And so everybody does a project about dinosaurs. Now, the difference might be that you say, ‘We’ve got these learning objectives we need to achieve, let’s see if we can get the students working on a couple of different topics of interest to themselves that’ll help achieve those outcomes.’”
