According to the World Economic Forum, one of the planet’s main challenges will be how to feed and nourish the current population – as well as the 9.8 billion expected global population of 2050 – through sustainable practices. “Food systems do not currently provide nutritious food in an environmentally sustainable way to the world’s population,” it says. “At the same time, food production, transportation, processing and waste are putting unsustainable strain on environmental resources.”
