CURVES IN ALL THE RIGHT PLACES

New designs and pieces offer a strong contrast to straight edges.

-

Curved furniture has been around for millennia, but new designs are providing a contemporary edge to their predecessors. The ancient Greeks first introduced curved lines into furniture design, and as technology has developed over time, so, too, has the ability of designers to play with different shapes and materials. Curved lines soften the feel of a space and also add interest, flow and movement, helping the eye meander around the room. From striking statement pieces like the Bryant Resin Vase, to more subtle lines found in the Claude Occasional Chair and Isabella Low Entertainment Unit (all from Coco Republic), curved furniture offers a visually striking contrast to straight edges and adds special interest to any room.

NATURE IN THE CITY

Urban Eden founder Prue Glazebrook grew up in rural New Zealand, surrounded by an abundance of greenery. When she moved to Sydney, it was the green surroundings she missed the most. Prue’s mission with Urban Eden is to bring a touch of her nature-filled upbringing to city life. Her collection of vases, pots, selfsustaining indoor planters and vertical gardens are beautiful and are designed to last. Pictured is the Chalice Hot Mustard Vase. urbanedenco.com
