BEAUTIFUL BOUCLÉ
Architect and interior designer Florence Knoll and industrial designer Eero Saarinen popularised bouclé fabric during the 1940s with their beautiful ‘Womb Chair’ and since then it has become a firm favourite in both fashion and interior design. French for ‘curl’ or ‘loop’, bouclé is characterised by its fleecy appearance, which is produced from a number of different loops in the yarn. Bouclé is most often woven from wool, but the technique can also be used with linen, silk, cotton and rayon. It can be used in numerous ways in the home, from bedding and soft furnishings, to upholstered furniture.
