STOPPING THE TRAUMA

I read your article ‘Breaking The Cycle’ (July 2021) with interest. I’m currently reading the book Why Does He Do That? by Lundy Bancroft, who has run programs for abusive men for many years. In his research, he and his colleagues have discovered many, many thousands of abusive men and their partners or ex-partners, indicating a much-greater problem. The question is how can we stop this intergenerational trauma? The starting point for the current generations is education and support for families, aligned with the understanding that prevention is better than cure.
