Cherie Metcalfe, known for her popular Pepper & Me sauces and spice blends, has launched a new collection of handcrafted carbon steel knives. Cain & Abel, she says, was born out of a love of cooking and a desire to bring a new kind of kitchen knife to New Zealanders and Australians. Launched with four products – a sashimi knife and three santoku-style blades – each knife is sharpened to peak condition by a Mount Maunganui-based knife expert. “We know it might be tricky to get people to follow the care instructions and not put their knives in the dishwasher, but if they make the effort, their blades will last a lifetime,” says Metcalfe.
