blessed are the teachers

-

Spurred by evolving technologies, the role of the teacher is slowly morphing from ‘sage on the stage’ to ‘guide on the side’. This change hasn’t rendered the role any less crucial, a sentiment highlighted by our time on the sidelines.

Education consultant, Dr Karl Sebire explains: “Something that’s happened [during home schooling] that’s never happened before in education is the parents have had a real front-row seat to what teaching actual is.

“The fact that teaching has happened in everyone’s dining rooms and living rooms, parents have now seen actually what is involved in getting their children educated, the mastery of the teacher. It’s not just about content knowledge, but how they engage young, curious minds, and keep them engaged when there are so many other things vying for their attention.

“I think that’s going to be really important as education progresses – to work on this partnership … between parent, teacher and student.”
