GETTING FESTIVE

Griffith knows its way around a celebration, which is perhaps unsurprising given the town’s rich Italian heritage. When the time comes to book your visit, get the most out of your experience by planning it around one of these annual festivals.

GRIFFITH EASTER PARTY

Held over the Easter Long Weekend, this popular festival not only celebrates the end of vintage, but also includes a host of entertainment, activities, demonstrations, food and – of course – wine. griffith.nsw.gov.au/easter-party

BANNA LANE FESTIVAL

In the Griffith CBD, Banna Lane comes to life (even more than usual) during the not-for-profit public art initiative, which is focused on large-scale murals. The lane is closed for the event, which starts this year on 27 April. Live music, kids’ activities, and local wine, beer, and food are all part of the rich show. bannalanefestival.com

A TASTE OF ITALY

Visit Griffith at any time of year and you will get a taste of the region’s Italian culture and heritage. To turn the experience up a notch, visit during the Taste of Italy festival, to be held this year between 27-29 August. griffith.nsw.gov.au/a-taste-of-italy

GRIFFITH SPRING FEST

Held every October, the Griffith Spring Fest (below) is a colourful two-week celebration of food, wine and open gardens. The citrus sculptures are another incredible highlight. The larger-than-life works are created using more than 100,000 oranges and grapefruit. Long lunches are de rigueur, while the launch party is a great excuse to meet the locals. Mark it in your diary: this year’s event will be held from 9-23 October. griffith.nsw.gov.au/springfestival
