If you’re curious about laser hair removal, the experts at OFF & ON will help you banish your razor for good and enjoy a smoother future.

There are certain tasks we could do without each week. Folding washing, taking out the bins, and constantly wiping surfaces are among them. For many of us, there’s also the pesky regular task of hair removal.

We can’t help with the former chores, but there is a solution to the latter.

Laser hair removal is easy and accessible and thanks to some clever technology, you’ll finally be able to remove shaving or waxing from your mental to-do list!

OFF & ON are the experts in hair removal, having been in business doing just that – and a whole lot more – for over a decade. With an advanced, top-ofthe-line laser, a number of stylish locations and a team seriously dedicated to ridding your body of unwanted hair and making the process an appealing one (yes, really!) it’s the perfect place to venture into the world of laser. You’ll enjoy the team’s expertise, a detailed initial consultation and ongoing service that covers all variables. Although you won’t be in and out in 10 minutes, you can be certain no corners are being cut, so to speak!

OFF & ON welcomes all genders keen to rid themselves of hair. It could be a small, selected area like the underarms or upper lip, or larger ones like your legs or your back. They also deliver brow services like shaping, tinting and micro-blading, as well as anti-wrinkle and dermal filler injectables.

HOW LASER HAIR REMOVAL WORKS AT OFF & ON

Laser removes the hair by a process called selective photothermolysis. Laser loves pigment, so the laser beam is directed from a handpiece onto skin where it travels down the hair follicle targeting the melanin (colour) or pigment in the hair follicle. Heat from the laser is absorbed by the melanin in the hair, resulting in the follicle being destroyed. A built-in cooling process means the heat you experience is minimal and the process virtually pain-free.

It works by zapping follicles in their growth stage, and since not all are in that stage at once, you’ll need a number of treatments. This is typically 6 to 8 for the body and 6 to 10 for the face, spaced apart to get all the stragglers not eliminated in the first rounds.

Stacey Faloon, National Laser Trainer at Auckland hair removal experts OFF & ON, says the benefit of the company’s laser offering is that when it also comes to skin types, a lot of machines can only treat the lighter skin types.

“At OFF & ON we are lucky to have two lasers built into the one machine, which means we can treat all skin types as well as provide a comfortable and safe treatment for the client,” she says.

However, not everyone is a suitable candidate. “For anyone with blonde, grey, white or red hair, there is an absence of brown melanin in these hair types, so there is nothing for the laser to attract to.”

For those that can have it, the results are convincing, with a majority of hair banished for life after a full course of sessions.

WHAT MAKES LASER THE BEST METHOD OF HAIR REMOVAL?

For starters, it saves you money if you previously had regular waxing appointments, says Faloon.

“Sessions don’t take as long as waxing and have bigger gaps in between, it’s pretty much the only thing on the market that will rid you of ingrown hairs and it’s a lot less painful than a wax!”

It also offers benefits over IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light, offered elsewhere. “Laser uses only one wavelength to target hair follicles, therefore laser energy is far more focused than IPL,” says Faloon. “The varying wavelengths in IPL and broad light span means there is less control in application.”

WHERE TO START

It’s worth doing your research and seeking out an experienced provider. Never begin any treatment without having a patch test and your technician having taken your full medical history.

Find out the level of training and expertise of your technician; they should have their certificates and relevant qualifications on display. OFF & ON offers a full consultation and welcomes questions, no matter how trivial you might think they are!

“We don’t see laser as a oneoff single session that you just have whenever you can fit it in. Our 30-minute complimentary consultation means that we can work with the client to come up with the best plan for them so that they can achieve the best results at the end of their laser journey.”

OFF & ON has gender-neutral laser pricing and is offering 20% off when you book a course of laser hair removal treatments in the month of May or June 2022. Visit offandon.co.nz
