WHAT IS XEOMIN®?

XEOMIN® is a purified* botulinum toxin, developed by Merz Aesthetics. It’s free from unnecessary proteins that may contribute to treatment resistance in some patients over time. It undergoes additional purification* steps during production to remove the complexing protein which means the end product contains only the active part of the botulinum toxin. When injected, XEOMIN® acts on the nerve endings in facial muscles and prevents them from contracting. The reduction in muscle activity temporarily softens the lines in the face, like crow’s feet, forehead creases and frown lines, with the intention of giving you a natural, well-rested appearance.

THE TREATMENT

During the treatment, as administered only by an aesthetic medicine doctor or registered nurse, purified* botulinum toxin XEOMIN® is injected in minimal amounts directly to the target muscle where it reduces muscle activity. It’s a relatively quick process, with the whole procedure taking approximately 20 minutes. With no downtime, you can easily return to the office immediately after a lunchtime treatment.

The effects of purified* botulinum toxin XEOMIN® therapy are rapid and should generally be noticeable within 2-3 days following treatment, with maximum effect visible after around one month. Retreatment will be required around four months after the initial treatment, with the effects gradually wearing off during this time. However, the duration of effect will vary between individuals, so ask your doctor when retreatment is recommended for you.

EFFECTIVE RESULTS

XEOMIN® is an effective, widely used anti-wrinkle option globally, with results proven in numerous clinical studies. In frown line treatment studies, XEOMIN® anti-wrinkle injections improved the appearance of frown lines in over 95% of patients within 1 month of treatment and desirable effects were maintained for up to 4 months. Additional clinical trials have shown that XEOMIN® is also highly effective for the treatment of horizontal frown lines and crow’s feet with results maintained for up to 4 months.
