Why not find a producer to expand your farm-to-table experience to your vino as well?

-

Heading to the supermarket for a weekly shop has become a lot less frequent in my household. We prefer the benefits of farm-to-tabletype shopping out of farmers’ markets when we can, buying online for delivery or click and collect. Accessing spray-free fruit and veg from the market and having artesian water or fresh fish delivered has many benefits. I am now also buying fresh milk and free-range eggs online, too, having them delivered once a week from Kelsey Lane Creamery. What’s even better is Kelsey Lane milk is in packaged glass bottles, uses resealable lids and the company I buy from collects the empties when they arrive each week to deliver the next order. When it comes to wine and a farm-to-table concept, access and process get a little harder. To find a wine producer with a farm-to-table access for consumers is not common, however one way this has been possible in the past is through farmers’ market sales. The Matakana market in north Auckland, or Hastings Sunday market, for example, make room for local wine producers to offer tastings and sales onsite. Online sales is another way to look at farm-to-table wine options: Misha’s Vineyard or Kumeu River Wines are excellent examples of this process.
