Esther & Elena Castaño-Lopez

-

Sisters Esther and Elena CastañoLopez have taken over the direction of their family business from their father, bringing a burst of energy to the Spanish furniture manufacturer, Sancal. “Neither of us planned to work in the family company, we studied different things, we moved to other cities,” says Elena. Lively and creative, they have swept away the minimalistic style of the company, presenting two parallel installations in Milan this year, created in collaboration with Studiopepe and Teklan. The first is a warm and inviting space with eclectic furniture pieces, while the second plays with colour blocking and energetic objects. “Two sisters working together is an explosive mix! If as sisters we get along, at work we fight, we clash, we are without filters, typical dynamics of every Spanish family,” laughs Esther. “Yet behind our heated minds, we have the same vision.”
