Cara Judd & Davide Gramatica
An imaginary world, suspended between dream and reality was the inspiration for the installation curated by Cara Judd and Davide Gramatica in collaboration with the artist Gustaf Von Arbin for X-Kin. The two designers behind multi-disciplinary Milan-based design studio CARA \ DAVIDE create theatrical scenarios with innovative materials, in which objects play with shadows and perspectives. “Cara and I met while studying. I tried my best to create the conditions for us to do projects together, because I was attracted to her,” recalls Gramatica. “It worked! We are a couple in life, and we have been working together since 2016.”
Judd says it’s their different cultures – her South African heritage, his Italian roots – that inform their varied approaches and points of view. “Ideas contaminate the dialogue, and each project expands the conversation. Materials, companies and artisans with whom we collaborate, are our medium, the meeting point and compromise between us.”
