Enrica Cavarzan & Marco Zavagno

-

Enrica Cavarzan and Marco Zavagno founded the multidisciplinary studio Zaven in Venice in 2008. A couple in life and work, they presented at Alcova a series of three works with SEM, a spin-off of the Spotti Milano company. Toying with the idea of collectible design, the collaboration saw the birth of Murano glass lamps, veneered wood furniture and modular ceramic modules. “When we approach a project, we start from common suggestions, then, each according to their own inspirations and passions, follows different paths of research,” explains Zavagno. “Enrica is interested in colours, I am in materials. In the end we find ourselves overlapping ideas, making them converge in a single vision.” Cavarzan admits that sharing both their personal life and work is not easy, and that respect for each individual’s roles is important. “Trust and respect are at the base, and then, as is normal, we fight! Differences and clashes reconcile at a certain point and we find balance. The beauty of doing things as two is that there is a clear and open discussion.”
