Sofia Lagerkvist & Anna Lindgren

-

Sofia Lagerkvist and Anna Lindgren, founders of Swedish design studio Front, are fascinated by magical and imaginative worlds. Front’s work focuses on production techniques and new technologies, integrating them into everyday objects. “Our dialogue began when we were studying industrial design, in a very rigorous environment. We started asking ourselves how we could push the limits, and go beyond what we were taught,” says Lagerkvist. “Through the years we have developed great interests in different fields. We have been collaborating with researchers, archeologists, sociologists, bio-scientists to mention some. Design is a lot about collaboration and community.” The Serpentine Lamp, made for Dutch design brand Moooi, and presented at Milan, is composed of curved, airy elements that play with the limits and potential of paper. “Our process is to build up on each other’s ideas,” says Lindgren. “We had a lot of fun doing so, it’s a privilege to work with your best friend.”
