Maurizio Cattelan & Pierpaolo Ferrari
Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari, with their Toiletpaper magazine, are a creative volcano. With their provocative and irreverent images, they have burst into the design world covering a wide range of products and collaborations. This year the artist (Cattelan) and the photographer (Ferrari), invaded the neighbourhood of the magazine’s iconic headquarters, in Milan’s Via Balzaretti, filling up the building’s façade with pop-art colours and graphic designs. Cattelan says their collaboration was never planned. “It’s like with a date, it starts in one way, and becomes something else. We wanted to experiment doing things that we didn’t cover in our respective areas. Unexpected things came out. As long as it works, we go on.” Ferrari adds: “We never wanted Toiletpaper to become an art project, so our luck was not taking ourselves too seriously.”
