THE MIGHTY MACKINAC

-

The Octantis travelled under the Mackinac Bridge, the longest suspension bridge in the western hemisphere at over 8,000 metres long, and the fifth longest in the world. Sitting between the juncture of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron, it opened in 1957 with a height at mid-span 60 metres above water level. This national historic civil engineering landmark has an annual bridge walk and sees a quarter to half a million cars travel over each month depending on the season.
