LET THERE BE LIGHT

For the centred nature of its designs, multidisciplinary creative studio Snelling emerged from a tumultuous time in designer Bec Snelling’s life. Formerly of cult design studio Douglas and Bec, she struck out on her own after their studio was destroyed by fire, her beloved father and business partner retired, and she got sober. Snelling was born, specialising in innovative and sculptural furniture, lighting and objects. Snelling welcomes the final two pieces of their whimsical and experimental Lens Collection, the Lens Floor Lamp and Lens Table Lamp. Playing with a sense of optical illusion, the collection pays homage to the designer’s love of yoga, and has a nostalgic, almost childlike underpinning. It includes the pose-inspired Lens Rabbit Sculpture, Lens Camel Sculpture, and the playful and unexpected Lens Block Lumen, a prismatic light proportionally scaled to a yoga block. snellingstudio.com
