New Kumho R&D cen­tre

Kumho has ex­panded its ex­ten­sive re­search and de­vel­op­ment net­work with the open­ing of a state of the art Re­search and De­vel­op­ment cen­tre in South Korea.

The new 35,000 square me­tre cen­tre houses more than 600 staff and is the base for the lat­est su­per com­put­ers, test­ing ma­chin­ery, chemical anal­y­sis and per­for­mance­based re­search.

The new R&D cen­tre in Yon­gin City will serve as the hub of Kumho›s global re­search and de­vel­op­ment net­work join­ing fa­cil­i­ties in Amer­ica, Ger­many and China.

Yon­gin City is also rapidly be­com­ing the au­to­mo­tive and tech­nol­ogy core of South Korea with Hyundai Kia Mo­tors, Hyundai Mo­bis and Re­nault Sam­sung all lo­cated there.

Kumho’s other Korean de­vel­op­ment cen­tre in Gwangju will be­come an eval­u­a­tion and mon­i­tor­ing base as a re­sult of the new fa­cil­ity open­ing.

Ac­cord­ing to Kumho, the new re­search and de­vel­op­ment fa­cil­ity will re­sult in even higher qual­ity tyres for Aus­tralia and New Zealand.

Kumho has de­vel­oped new com­pounds and con­struc­tion meth­ods which has di­rectly ben­e­fit­ted the mar­kets with new tyres such as the Ec­sta 4X KU22, Cru-Gen KL33, Por­tan KC53 and most re­cently the Ec­sta PS91.

Since its in­cep­tion in 1960, Kumho Tyres has be­come one of the top ten tyre com­pa­nies in the world.
