-

Executives and product managers from Ryco Filters key distributors and fitter chains attended a special event at the new GUD Automotive complex to experience the facilities.

Located in Melbourne’s Altona North, the new home of GUD Automotive Pty Ltd houses Australasia’s most advanced automotive filter testing laboratory and engineering facilities with the latest Bonavista test rig, a 7,500 square metre state-of-the-art warehouse and a 1,200 sqm office and administration building.

GUD automotive CEO Bob Pattison spoke to the visitors about the heritage of the Ryco and Goss brand names plus details on the product positioning of the Ryco Filters and Goss product programmes. He also provided further information on how the Ryco filters are being designed and developed for local conditions, manufactured to OEM specifications and made easier for the mechanic to fit. A tour of the complex followed with an emphasis on the only dedicated automotive filtration laboratory in Australasia with its newly commissioned triple loop multi-pass filter test rig; the engine air filter test rig in operation; fuel pump testing plus a workshop used for fitment testing on vehicles. International compliance testing relating to filters on the sophisticated Bonavista filter test rig was explained. These now cover three critical ISO specifications covering hydraulic fluid power for evaluation filtration performance of a filter element; diesel and petrol fuel filters for internal combustion engines measuring filtration efficiency using particle counting and contaminant retention capacity and finally testing for full flow lubrication oil filters for internal combustion engines including efficiency using particle counting and contaminant retention capacity. The testing procedures now conducted at Ryco are in use by leading filtration manufacturers throughout the world.
