Mobil launches racing oil
The South Island endurance motor racing series kicked off with the recent launch of a relevant new product for the competitors, at the Bill Richardson Truck Museum in Invercargill.
For more than four decades Mobil 1 has been involved in global motorsport in disciplines such as NASCAR, Formula 1 and V8 Supercars to name a few.
As the local distributor of Mobil lubricants, Allied Lubricants, sponsors ‘interesting motorsport’ in New Zealand, and this includes Mobil 1 sponsorship of the South Island Endurance Series. It took the opportunity to launch Mobil 1 Racing 0W-50 locally with the product being taken up by many of the competitors involved.
Mobil 1 Racing 0W-50 is designed for professional and amateur racing - it‘s not for street use. It‘s benefits include boosted anti wear which helps protect engines during gruelling race applications while reduced internal friction helps maximise power. The new product possesses outstanding shear ability and a robust additive package to reduce oil breakdown while a wide viscosity range helps faster flow to critical engine parts at low temperatures. It also provides high temperature protection in excess of more than 200 degrees C.
While it could be construed that a business involvement in motorsport could be equated to an exercise in brand promotion, in Mobil‘s case they have recognised the value of working closely with constructors and teams in order to develop excellent products.
Mobil has become a vital technology partner to many in this game. One man who knows and appreciates this is Steve Hallam, the Managing Director of the Holden Racing Team and a strong advocate of Mobil 1. Steve was a popular, guest speaker on the night and his journey through multiple motor racing codes proved to be a fascinating address for the crowd.
