ACE training from Schaeffler
Schaeffler recently conducted the first of a planned series of training seminars at the Automotive Centre of Excellence (ACE) Kangan TAFE College in Melbourne.
Addressing a group of 40 students and a number of ACE Kangan TAFE College teachers, Schaeffler product specialist Brett Sage conducted a twohour training seminar outlining the LuK (clutch and drivetrain), INA (engine components) and FAG (bearing products) that these automotive technicians are or will be working on in the near future.
“The main purpose of this training is to ensure that these new automotive technicians have an idea of the technological developments and the new products that are being fitted as original equipment to the vast majority of cars currently being manufactured around the world,” says Brett.
We explained the difference of the new products and the hazards to look out for when replacing components such as dual mass flywheels, double clutch systems and over running alternator pulleys. We also showed them how much easier their jobs can be by using tools that have been specifically designed for specific drivetrain component fitment and the problems that can occur with incorrect fitment or diagnosis.”
Schaeffler sponsored V8 Supercar driver Lee Holdsworth also attended the training session, bringing along his racing helmet for photo opportunities and signing cards for each student. He also spent some time separately speaking to the ACE contingent of motorsport team students who also attended the seminar.
All students received gifts from Schaeffler and filled in survey questions following their training in order to win a V8 Supercar pit tour with Holdsworth at a local V8 Supercar race event.
According to Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket, this was the first of what is planned to be a regular series of training sessions to be conducted at Australia’s largest automotive vocational training facility.
