Xtreme Team – why Xtreme Clutch?

-

Xtreme Clutch has been a name synonymous with drifting since it was introduced to Australia close to 15 years ago.

With aftermarket parts becoming increasingly expensive, and most parts only available overseas, Xtreme began working on a range of clutch options to suit these increasingly popular modified imports.

So far, the clutch options were limited when selecting a clutch to suit each and every application, and the sheer cost meant many cars were off road or off track for longer than expected periods of time.

Xtreme came up with a cost-effective solution to ensure this new and exciting motor sport would flourish and continue to grow. With the range continually growing, the power, torque, engine and gearbox combinations would become more vast and wide.

“We wanted to come up with a cost-effective solution for people who were new to this motorsport. We knew this would not only benefit the customer but also the growth of the sport” says Brenton Jordan, managing director of ACS.

With these imported cars becoming increasingly popular to a younger demographic, the sport of drifting began to soar, and it didn’t take long for a national series to begin, with the inception of the D1NZ Series.

Xtreme Clutch was fast becoming a well-known brand in the NZ market, and Gaz Whiter was one of several drivers who began in the series, and to this day are still competing in the national series.

With a long and successful partnership with Xtreme Clutch, Gaz has notched up three series wins and is regarded as one of New Zealand’s most successful drift champions.

Fast forward to the 2012/2013 D1NZ Series, Gaz debuted a new car, engine and driveline package with a Nissan S1 S14 powered by an LS7 engine with an Xtreme 230mm twin plate ceramic clutch kit including chromoly flywheel, Xtreme conversion internal hydraulic cylinder, and braided lines to suit, coupled along with a G-Force gearbox.

This package proved to be rather testing for the team as they developed the car and familiarised themselves to the power output and the power delivery, and towards the end of the 2013/2014 D1NZ season, Gaz is leading the D1NZ Championship with only one round remaining.

“The partnership with Gaz has been instrumental with the Xtreme brand in New Zealand. It has not only improved the brand awareness in New Zealand, but it also demonstrates that there are cost-effective, high quality clutch kits in the market for this growing motor sport,” says Brenton Jordan, managing director of ACS.

The Xtreme range now has various single, twin and triple plate options available to suit any drift application, with the ability to engineer and manufacture a solution for any engine/gearbox combination.
