Penrite Honda MX on the podium in 2014

-

The Penrite Honda Racing Team will compete in the Monster MX National and the Australian Supercross Championship. The team this year includes two well-known and South Australian Josh Cachia.

Cody Cooper hails from picturesque Mt Maunganui in the North Island. He travels regularly to Australia, where he works closely with team manager Mike Landman preparing for upcoming events.

However, things didn’t go his way in Round 4 of the championships at Murray Bridge, South Australia at the beginning of June.

Disaster struck in the second moto, when a collision with Jake on his knee, and was unable to finish the race.

“I started tight in the first race then settled in,” Cooper explained. “I found my rhythm and worked my way past Matt Moss and into second.

“In the second moto I came together with Jake Moss and hurt my knee in the process. To be honest, I didn’t even see him.”

Cooper may be out for the rest of the year with a suspected ruptured ACL (anterior cruciate ligament).

Ben Townley, originally from Taupo, has recently made a successful comeback to the Penrite Honda MX Team to replace the injured Cooper. The former World Motocross Champion returned to the Penrite Oil Honda racing team to contest the MX1 class at the fifth round of the MX Nationals at Perth’s Wanneroo Motocross track.

Townley, who retired from full-time competition in early 2013, has also contested the Manjimup 15000 with the factory Honda outfit, and said he is looking forward to racing in his first national in nearly two years.

“I was there when Cody got hurt, and it was really disappointing as he was in a good position to take the overall,” Townley said. “I am looking forward to racing again, and while I haven’t raced a national in two years, I am still riding and it will be fun to get out there.

“The team has always been there and supported me during my setbacks, so I wanted to return that support. I will race Wanneroo and then we will head down to Manjimup for the 15000,” Townley added.

Toby Dymond, Penrite Oil general manager sales and marketing, is proud of the association and says his family-owned Australian company plans on working closely with the Honda team to further improve and develop the Motor Cycle range.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for Penrite to align with the iconic Honda race team,” he said.

“Together we aim to become a force to reckon with both off and on the race track. Last year we worked closely with the team to improve our Motor Cycle range. We pride ourselves on producing the highest quality oil, and look forward to providing motorcyclists with an extensive range of motorcycle lubricants”.

Mike Landman adds: “Winning as a team includes ensuring we finish every race, and Penrite has provided us with performance lubricants that we can rely on.”

The Penrite Motor Cycle range was recently revamped and expanded, featuring three new 100 percent PAO and Ester full synthetic engine oils, two of which are “shear free”. meaning that they will not lose viscosity even under the most extreme conditions.

The new ranges are also available in workshop sizes for service centres that want to provide their customers with the very best in lubricants and coolants.

These join an existing range of products that cover the majority of applications for both on and off road. The new range will be further enhanced in the future with new products under development and being tested by Penrite Honda MX team.

The Penrite Honda MX team exclusively uses Penrite engine oils, coolants, and speciality products, including Foam Filter Oil and Cleaner, MC Gear Oil ,and Fully Synthetic Chain Lube in the team’s Honda CRF250R and CRF450R race bikes.
