Superior cab Cat

-

Hot on the heels of the launch of its CT630S B-double specialist, Cat On-Highway Trucks is now applying the final touches to the much anticipated CT630SC “Superior Cab” model.

The SC combines a spacious, wellappointed sleeper cab purposely designed for line haul roles with a shortened bumper to back-of-cab dimension.

“The CT630SC is the obvious evolution of the CT630S." said Kevin Dennis managing director of Navistar Auspac.

“B-doubles dominate the linehaul freight industry and the need for a roomy, modern sleeper design that provides the driver with high levels of comfort and convenience yet maintains the ability to fit diverse trailer configurations within the 26 metres, 34 pallet B-double envelope is more important than ever.

“Consequently, it was always part of our product planning that the SC would quickly follow the CT630S in the Cat Trucks model range.

“Of course, we already have the factory-fitted integral sleeper cab for short haul and regional roles but the SC is the critical addition to our range for line haul B-doubles, and even B-triples.”

Designed and built in Australia to Cat Trucks’ exact guidelines, the “SC” sleeper is a 40-inch mid-rise design which provides a generous 2,250mm of internal width and a full 1,975mm of standing room, meaning that even those drivers stretching well over six feet tall can comfortably stand in the latest Cat.

In standard form the sleeper comes with a 711mm (28 inch) wide fully- sprung mattress while other important inclusions are large toolbox lockers on both sides with external and internal access, a similarly spacious storage area under the bunk which also accommodates an optional fridge, and a scalloped rear wall to optimise clearances between the rear of the cab and the trailer.

“There’s much more to the CT630SC than the brief details mentioned here and it won’t be long before everyone will see the results of almost two years of careful planning and development work,”

Navistar International Corporation manufactures Cat branded trucks under licence from Caterpillar in Australia and New Zealand, and is also a private-label designer and manufacturer of diesel engines for the pickup truck, van and SUV markets.

The company also provides truck and diesel engine service parts.
