Definitely the best yet – that was our opinion of this year’s CRC Speedshow held at the ASB Showground­s in Ellerslie, Auckland, on July 19 and 20, and there were huge crowds in attendance, especially on the opening day.

Many thousands of automotive fans heading to the eighth annual edition of New Zealand’s largest automotive and motor sport event.

While the final count of show-goer numbers wasn’t in when we went to press, given the busy display halls and packed grandstand during the Ideal Wheels live action arena entertainm­ent, this year’s show looks to be at least as popular, if not more popular than the 2013 edition.

Among the highlights of the opening day were: The New Zealand launch of the Ferrari 458

Speciale by Continenta­l Cars Ferrari. The New Zealand unveiling of brand-new Indian

Motorcycle models from Polaris Industries. The show debut of a completely hand-crafted

Eleanor Mustang by Matamata Panelworks. A simulated car crash by Auckland Transport

using a crane. V8 SuperToure­r star Simon Evans taking out Many thousands of people enjoying the opportunit­y to meet the future stars of New display supported by Total Lubricants. Motor Equipment News was there, and we’ve picked out some of our favourite photos from the show.
