Why you should use a scan tool
Each year, cars seem to get more and more complicated.
From the early 1990s through to today, cars can have well more than 100 microprocessors on board, and these microprocessors make it near-impossible for you to service your customer’s car properly without the manufacturers scan/software interface.
The primary reasons for this increase in the number of microprocessors are based around the need for sophisticated engine controls to meet emissions and fuel-economy standards, along with:
cars.
electrical wiring in cars.
From this need Launch began more than 20 years ago developing one scanner that performs many advanced functions like a factory scan tool, and over these years has created what many of our customers feel is the best value aftermarket scanner on the market today.
In the world of automotive diagnostics there are scan tools that are fit for the DIY market, and some that are not even fit to switch on. Some are code readers which only extract OBD data and generic fault codes.
However, independent workshops require a scan tool to not only clear DTC (fault codes) from each module, but also need to code new modules e.g. (airbag, BCM etc), perform factory resets, adaptions, fuzzy logic relearn (adapt transmissions), service resets, steering angle recalibrations, caliper service mode such as Audi, BMW, Volvo and soon. This seems scary to most mechanics, but with the new Launch Pad it has become very easy.
The X431 Launch Pad has already been proven by more than 1,000 workshops in Australia, and hundreds of workshops in New Zealand, as it is the only Windows 7 multi-platform scanner with dual core 1.6 GHz processors with onboard RAM. Plus a solid state hard drive with a 9.7-inch TFT high resolution wide screen, as well as an onboard thermal printer, and the ability to save customer data and upload to your desktop. There’s also an onboard camera, and it updates itself via Wi-fi, so you can look up auto data and Google while you are scanning.
Launch has now included channel codes and service procedures for Audi, VW, and Skoda, etc., VIN identification, and step-by-step programming guides. To top it off, it has the largest range of vehicle coverage in the world – 74 makes!
LaunchTech only sells Certified Genuine Launch scan tools, and also services and repairs all genuine Launch scan tools, is factory trained to repair X431 series, Master, Diagun 1, 2 and 3, X431 Pro, X431 GDS, and to perform software updates. The company offers spare parts and even trade-in options for the new powerful X431 Diagnostic range.
“Do not buy online as we get daily calls from disappointed workshops who find out the scanner is either fake, copy, or stolen software that has been translated from another language,” says LanchTech’s Vince Ainsworth. “Our Genuine Launch scanners make you money and save you time.
