Kiwi cars at Ade­laide fes­ti­val

A num­ber of clas­sic New Zealand rac­ing cars will fea­ture at the up­com­ing Ade­laide Motorsport Fes­ti­val to be held Oc­to­ber 17 and 18. The fes­ti­val en­com­passes a res­ur­rec­tion of the Clas­sic Ade­laide Rally, and also a Grand Prix Re­vival meet­ing much like Good­wood.

Among the cars will be the exGer­hard Berger Fer­rari 412T1 which placed sec­ond in Ade­laide in 1994, and the ex-Ivan Capelli Ley­ton House March from 1989. They will be mak­ing the trip over the Tas­man to run on a sec­tion of the Ade­laide Park­lands Cir­cuit.

Join­ing them will be an NZ-owned Group C BMW 635CSi which tour­ing car great Jim Richards will be driv­ing among a field of 14 his­toric Group A and C cars as just one of the 20 sup­port cat­e­gories to the field of seven Ade­laide Era F1 cars that will be on track. Another three Ade­laide Era F1s are ex­pected to at­tend as dis­play only.

Visi­tors can ex­pect to see nearly 200 Clas­sic Ade­laide Rally cars on site, plus the 240 cars com­pet­ing on the race track over the three-day long Good­wood style ex­trav­a­ganza, and the or­gan­is­ers say they won’t be dis­ap­pointed with the star cars on of­fer.

Join­ing the New Zealan­ders as over­seas en­trants will be two ex-Ayr­ton Senna F1 cars from Switzer­land, and a Mk 1 Es­cort driven at the event by formerWorld Sportscar Cham­pion and twice Le Mans class 2 win­ner Ray Bellm, plus a whole heap more. More info: www. ade­laide­mo­tor­sport­fes­ti­
