A BIG MOVE FROM JAYCO

Jayco Canterbury has just launched a premium caravan facility in Christchurch

-

Amulti-million-dollar Jayco caravan facility opened in Christchurch in May, offering locals and travellers with all their caravan needs under one roof, while providing jobs for local residents and boosting the region’s economy.

The new caravan facility is one of the biggest and most premium caravan dealerships in the country, with 1000 square metres of building space and occupying a further 6000 square metres of yard space. It sits conveniently off Wairakei Road and is just 2km from Christchurch airport.

“We’ve been at our previous facility since 1966 and we had simply outgrown it,” says Jayco Canterbury Sales Manager, Tony Mcwhirter. “We spent a bit of time finding the right location that was close to the airport and we wanted a space that locals and travellers can easily access.”

The state-of-the-art drive-in and driveout facility includes a dealership, shop, an indoor wash area and four servicing bays to fit eight caravan units. Furthermore, a bigger Jayco dealership and facility means employment opportunities for local residents.

“We currently have 17 staff members working for us. We have just recruited four new employees, including a new service coordinator. We’ll continue to grow and expand over the next few months, particularly as travel restrictions ease and we begin to ramp up our operations,” said Tony.

“We understand overseas travel will be off limits for quite some time so we’re expecting interest in caravanning and domestic travel to spike over the coming months. We are the only Jayco dealer in the South Island, so we have been rolling up our sleeves and gearing up for the end of the COVID-19 crisis, when people are ready to hit the road again,” he said.

The new Jayco Canterbury dealership and facility is now open to customers. The company is currently implementing safe social distancing to limit the spread of COVID-19. It is located at 545 Wairakei Road, Burnside, Christchurch 8053, New Zealand. ■
