Motorhomes Caravans & Destinations
EDITOR’S LETTER
Welcome to the May issue of Motorhomes, Caravans & Destinations magazine. How are your 2021 travels going? Judging by the number of motorhomes and caravans I've seen out and about, it seems many RV travellers are making the most of autumn's fading warmth and light. It's such a beautiful time of year to travel, when all the leaves are dropping, there's a refreshing coolness in the air, and you can start to indulge in warming comfort foods.
FREEDOM CAMPING
As you may be aware, the Government is asking for feedback on how to make freedom camping in New Zealand more sustainable. It's an important topic for the motorhoming community, and now is the time to have your say. There are four proposals up for consideration, and you have until 16 May to make your online submission. I'd encourage you to have a read of the proposals and get your submission in soon. Visit mbie.govt.nz
IN THIS ISSUE
This month, we feature a couple of quirky museums – the TATATM in Taranaki, which is home to all sorts of machinery from New Zealand's past, and the Dinosaur House in Raetihi
– a must-see for dinosaur enthusiasts. Our travel writers have inspiring stories from Waipū, Dunedin, Whāngārei and Wellington. Plus we have a great guide on Matariki events coming up around the country. And if you're heading south soon, be sure to check out our feature on South Island walks.
READER LETTER
This month's reader letter comes from Janine, who writes, “Loved reading about Allan and Gemma's truck in last month's issue. I spotted them at an NZMCA park recently. I was keen for a look inside, but didn't want to bother them, so it was timely to see the article soon afterwards. Looks like a great set up – a bit big for me and hubby, but good on them for going after their dream. I hope they enjoy many years of happy travels.”
We love hearing from our readers, so if you'd like to share your travels, or suggestions on what you'd like to see in the magazine, please email me at claire@nzmcd.co.nz. If we publish your letter, we'll send out a thank-you gift.
