Motorhomes Caravans & Destinations
EDITOR’S LETTER
Welcome to the July issue of Motorhomes, Caravans & Destinations magazine. Here we are, over halfway through the year and in the midst of winter. I’ll admit that I’m missing the longer, sunnier days and can’t wait for them to return. In an attempt to embrace the mid-winter chill, I’ve decided to learn a new skill. I’ve always admired people who can create beautiful knitwear, so a few nights ago, I sat down with a Youtube clip and began learning to crochet a winter beanie. It’s looking a bit wonky, but I’m hoping it comes together as it should – preferably before the end of winter.
MCD’S NEW WEBSITE
I’m very excited to share the launch of our new website with you. Our team has been working hard behind the scenes for many months on the project, with the goal of making our extensive library of content easier to access and enjoy. Whether you’re looking for travel inspiration, things to do and see in a particular region, or just some practical advice to help make the most of your travels, you can now easily search exactly what you need. And if you’re looking to buy a new RV, our Dealer Yard is packed full of motorhome and caravan listings from all over the country.
You’ll find the new site very easy to navigate, making it much easier to find the stories that interest you. Take a look at nzmcd.co.nz.
IN THIS ISSUE
This month, the NZMCA Motorhome, Caravan & Leisure Show is back in Christchurch over the weekend of 10-11 July. As last year’s show was cancelled due to Covid, we’re looking forward to heading down and supporting the industry in the south. And if you’re going along and would like to check out more of the city while you’re there, see our A-Z of Christchurch on page 14.
We also have travel stories on Mana Island, Queen Charlotte Sound and Waiheke Island, plus eight great winter festivals happening around the country in the coming weeks.
This issue sees the last instalment of Jackie’s Journey. Jackie and her husband Gareth have been living in and travelling by RV for the past four years, and we’ve been very lucky to have them share their journey with us each month. Catch up with their future plans on page 86.
