Egg on my face

As a trainee cook doing my internship in a Japanese-owned hotel, I learnt to make omelettes using chopsticks – no problem. But when we had to magically flip the omelette in the pan without using any implements, I just could not do it. One guy told me to

“hit harder”, which I did – but the omelette not only turned, it turned a few times and smacked me hard in the face, then landed on the floor. I had to use an ice pack on my nose and was the butt of jokes for quite a while. – Karen W Teo via Facebook
