Dress up your store windows in yellow

-

Spring may soon be in the air — and the Hawke’s Bay Cancer Society also wants to see it in businesses’ windows.

The society invites businesses throughout Hawke’s Bay to get behind the annual Daffodil Day Appeal on Friday, August 31 and dress their windows with daffodils and all hues of yellow.

“We are always impressed with the response from local Hawke’s Bay businesses to our Paint the Town Yellow challenge and our judges are always impressed with the strong cancer messages the businesses include in their creations,” says Cancer Society Hawke’s Bay centre manager Trudy Kirk.

“It is such a great public forum and an opportunity to get the Cancer Society message across to the general public.

“Your window displays really attract attention and bring a joyous spring feel to the shopping areas — a double whammy,” she says.

The Cancer Society thanked NZME which is sponsoring the prizes again this year. First place is a $750 advertising package and second place is a $300 advertising package. The Cancer Society says it appreciates the effort and interest from local businesses in promoting the appeal to support Hawke’s Bay people with cancer and their families.

The money raised is used to reduce the incidence and impact of cancer in the community through support and information services and health promotion.

Trudy says the judges will be looking for:

■ The Cancer Society message — so a window viewer knows immediately the business is supporting Cancer Society NZ through visual messaging and sentiments expressed.

■ Creativity — often incorporates eye-catching colour, retailer’s own product or a particular theme.

It’s an opportunity to let your artistic flair “cut loose”.

■ Originality — personal touches in the display.

■ Overall look.

■ Registration forms are available at Cancer Society Hawke’s Bay. To register complete the registration form and email enquiries.hb@cancercd.org.nz, post it or complete the online google form at everydayhero.co.nz and search under Paint Your Business Yellow.
