Skirl of pipes at winter show

Following the success of its Spring Concert, the Napier Pipe Band is again bringing an afternoon of piping, drumming and dancing to the public.

Joined by the City of Hastings Pipe Band, Highland dancers and the Napier Boys’ High School Band, the band will be playing at its Mists of Time winter concert.

Commencing at 2pm on Sunday, August 19 at the Salvation Army Citadel, 56 Tait Drive, Greenmeado­ws, the performers have planned a varied programme, including a number of young players displaying their talent.

As well as concerts, the Napier Pipe Band performs at many community occasions including Anzac and Blossom parades, Art Deco events and New Year’s Eve celebratio­ns.

Residents of retirement villages are also frequently entertaine­d along with people celebratin­g special occasions.

Lead by Pipe Major Kerry Marshall, the band enjoys comradeshi­p, and band members are enthusiast­ic about their craft.

Be entertaine­d by the skirl of the pipes, the beat of the drums and the swing of the kilts next Sunday.
