Health treatments at Expo

If you’re tired of looking for the right fix for any ongoing health issues, your search could well be over.

This weekend’s Hawke’s Bay Health Collaborative expo will have you spoiled for choice. A raft of complementary health practitioners will be under one roof, offering both information and treatments to the public. Joint organiser and naturopath Bridgitt McNabb says many people look for alternatives when they haven’t had success with their doctor.

“Some have tried everything and have had to live with it.”

Practitioners and treatments at the biannual expo will include a nutritionist, homeopathy, massage, reflexology, EFT (emotional freedom technique), tarot, essential oils, stem cell nutrition, futuristic life coach, rock-it board, birthing and pregnancy advice, herbal teas, craniosacral therapy and acupuncture.

“You will be able to talk to a practitioner about what might suit you — what they can do for you,” says HB Health Collaborative chairwoman Ishtar Deerheart.

The collaborative was established in 2013 and has been holding regular expos in Napier and Havelock North over the past few years.

“I would like to see this really grow — we personalise the therapies available,” Ishtar says.

As well as hands-on treatments and take-home information, a raffle will run with prizes including gift vouchers, natural products, healing balms, candles and other relaxation resources. The expo will donate a portion of the day’s takings to a charity — this year Hastings-based food waste group Nourished for Nil is the recipient.

“Our mission is to keep it local for locals — that’s the beauty of having it here — we can support our community,” Bridgitt says.
