Summer races returning

The Interislan­der Summer Festival has been a must-do family event for 13 years and it’s returning to Hastings on Tuesday, January 1 for an actionpack­ed day of fun in the sun.

The festival has something for everyone, with live music,food, all-day entertainm­ent and races.

This year’s event will also be celebrated with a mystery prize package giveaway for the festival’s one millionth customer.

For this year’s festival 29 races will take place across the country from Whanga¯ rei Racing Club in the north to Otago Racing Club in the south.

Hawke’s Bay Racing Inc spokespers­on Greg Howie says the Interislan­der Summer Festival has grown in popularity year on year, establishi­ng itself as a not-to-be-missed event on Hastings’ calendar.

“Hastings residents look forward to the Interislan­der Summer Festival every year and this year is no exception. Heading to the races with friends and wha¯ nau has become a summer tradition here in Hastings.”

The youngest race-goers can expect activities ranging from bouncy castles and sack racing to junior fashion shows.

The festival offers a full day of affordable entertainm­ent with free entry for children aged 18 and under and adult tickets from $10.

Pack your bags, pop on your sunnies and get ready for a day of family fun.
