Shop still going strong
A decade after opening to the public, the Taradalebased Christmas is still going strong.
“Those years have gone very quick and it has opened a lot of new opportunities,” says owner Linda Nelson.
Nine years before that, Linda had devoted her time to making collectable teddy bears. The Christmas shop has had a few changes recently, with both handmade and imported products available again for the second year.
Linda says she has tried to source specially imported decorations that are not commonly seen in the retail stores so offers a point of difference.
Each year many regulars visit early in the season to get in quick with the new stock. “It’s a challenge to create new items each year to keep the shop interesting, particularly for those who have been visiting since the store opened.”
This year The Christmas Shop has a new range of nutcrackers, elves and mice, with the newest additions of felted foxes which are becoming quite popular, Linda says.
“Many of the decorations made over the years such as snowmen, owls and Christmas rabbits and santas are still being snapped up.”
The Christmas Shop opens is open Friday, Saturday and Sundays until Christmas Eve. With the Christmas season almost upon us, Linda welcomes social groups including book clubs, gardening groups and quilters, etc, for evening visits by appointment.
