D.R.E.A.M team back for summer

-

D.R.E.A.M. Holiday Programmes are back in the Bay for summer, celebrating 10 years since their launch in Sydney in January 2019.

Since then the arts dream team has run 15 programmes across coastal, rural, industrial and regional locations between Sydney and Hawke’s Bay.

The D.R.E.A.M. (Drama Recreation Educational Arts Movement) programme is produced and run by Napierborn, Sydney-based Megan Hanley, who brings a team of arts practitioners and counselling staff to support the children.

The programme has been described as enhancing confidence levels and improving behavioural issues, while teaching artistic skills within the performing arts. At the end of each programme last year, a ‘sharing of work’ performance was staged at Lindisfarne College for family and friends. Producing the interactive 45 — minute stage show included live theatre performances, script reading classes, off-site location shoots and post editing. The producers are hoping to offer the end of programme show to the public this year for a gold coin donation. WINZ subsidies are available and scholarships are awarded at each programme for promising students who show an outstanding respect for their classmates, Megan says.

Flaxmere student Eru Heke of the D.R.E.A.M. Trust House Foundation initiative won his second scholarship during the Spring programme and become a contender for the International award.
