Join the Department of Conservati­on from September 14-22 to celebrate 50 years of Conservati­on Week. With more than 4000 species threatened or at risk, nature needs us to take action now. You can take part by doing a conservati­on activity or attending an event.

Join the fight against predators in urban Hawke’s Bay — More than 900 predator traps to give away.

■ A’Deanes Bush Community Planting Day

Family planting day. Bring spade, gardening gloves, gumboots, hat, wet weather gear if required. Free sausage sizzle.

■ Te Angiangi Marine Reserve — Rocky Shore Adventure

Saturday, September 21, 10am-1pm, Napier Soundshell, Marine Parade, Napier. Swap a weed for a free native plant. More than 200 free native plants to swap.

■ Waipukurau Community Marae Planting Day

Saturday, September 21, 10am-12 noon. Waipukurau Community Marae, 2330 Takapau Road, Waipukurau. Celebrate Conservati­on Week by planting a native tree at the Waipukurau Community Marae. Bring: Spade, gardening gloves, gumboots, hat, suitable wet weather gear if required. Free Sausage Sizzle. Kiwi Creche Kleen Up at Opouahi Sunday, September 22, 10am-2pm, Opouahi Scenic Reserve, 372 Pohokura Road, Tu¯ tira.
