Exhibition ameeting of creative minds
‘InTwoMinds’ is the latest combined exhibition from Napier artists Gail Davidson and Christine Parnell which is onshow at the Hastings CommunityArts Centre in Russell St, Hastings, until Saturday, November7.
“This is our eighth combined exhibition. Our styles complement one another, being very different and
therefore offer plenty of variety,” Gail says.
The pair have both exhibited manytimes locally and throughout NewZealand.
This exhibition includes close to 60original paintings as well as greetings cards.
“Combining very different styles, wealso work in different media, reflecting the life around us aswe perceive it. Everything is for sale in our latest exhibition. Wetry not to becometoo fond of our paintings as thewall space in our studios is limited. Wehope they will go to a goodhomeand enjoy the thought thatsomeoneis getting pleasure out of our creations.”
Christine has drawn all her life and has been painting for about 20 years “seriously”. She started with acrylics and a rather realistic style which has becomemore abstract, she says. These days she paints mostly in watercolour, loving the randomness and transparency.
Recently she has been learning from international tutors and would like to do moreof these.
Gail has painted for about 15 years. She paints solely in acrylics as it suits what she describes as her bright quirky style.
“Mypaintings tell a story and reflectmyjoyful sense of fun and humour. I enjoy bringing a smile to other people’s faces throughmyart.”
Her paintings gracemanywalls throughoutNewZealand, and as far awayas theUKand Europe.
