Band puts on Mother’s Day concert
Make mum’s day with a special Mother’s Day concert by the Napier Tech Memorial Band on Sunday, May 9 at the Salvation Army Citadel, Greenmeadows, starting at 2pm. Tickets are just $10 on the door.
“Come and enjoy a modern rendition of Beethoven’s Hymn of Joy and a foot-tapping Glenn Miller tribute, hum along to Feed the Birds from Mary Poppins and sway to the beautiful sounds of Mum especially on this Mother’s Day, as well as an Anzac tribute, the theme from the film The Great Escape,” says the band’s co-chair, Teresa Cuthbert.
This concert also features several items from the junior band including saxophonic boogie, highlighting some of the more experienced younger players. “They are looking forward to entertaining you with their favourite piece The Star Wars Saga, by John Williams, played by musicians from both bands.”
The concert is conducted by their returning musical director, Christopher
Wilson, who promises something for everyone.
“So gather a group of friends, their mothers, and enjoy a splendid musical afternoon out. We are always keen to welcome new players to both the tech band and the junior band.”
